SPECIFIC
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES THAT RELATE TO THE ABOVE DEPARTMENT/POSITION:
The Administrative Assistant supports the Computer Center, Information Technology and the Marketing Group. This is a highly technical environment where the use of computer nomenclature is frequent and essential. This position performs all Administrative Assistant duties and does a significant volume of procurement tasks. In addition to procurement, notable tasks include, filing of fiscal and technical material, electronic-based recordkeeping, cash handling, phone call screening and service request logging, maintaining budget records and creating fiscal reports, managing work-study personnel, operating standard office and department-specific equipment such as bulk CD writers and scanners, and occasionally providing departmental information to inquirers at the Help Desk. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: Requires the knowledge of or the ability to rapidly learn and understand technological nomenclature to effectively execute procurement tasks, communications with staff, preparation of documents, and the conveyance of policy and procedures to clients; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; positive and friendly attitude; ability to shift tasks efficiently; a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, productivity, and attention to detail; willingness to work as part of a team; handling of cash and other payments according to established standards; ability to manage a budget using central administrative systems and spreadsheets; demonstrated proficiency in basic computer skills (especially in MS Word, MS Excel, and Windows OS, and web browsers).
